Runners braved the especially hot and sweaty weather, laced up their trainers and joined a fun run from Hagg Bank Bridge, Wylam on an out and back 5K route, to raise vital funds for Tynedale Hospice at Home.
The special event was organised by Luke Hilliard Fitness and Running. Various members of the community turned up to support the run including Jog on the Tyne, Prudhoe Plodders, and Newburn Running Club and was supported by Hospice volunteers. However, the unexpected heroes on the night was the 1st Wylam Scout Group. They helped set up, tidy up, provided extra water (lots of it in the heat), marshalled and cheered the runners on with enthusiasm! Truly the community pulling together to raise those funds to support the care services the Hospice provides.
Matthew Crowe Fundraising Officer for the Hospice said “We are enormously grateful to all hard work put in by Luke in setting up and organizing such an event. This run was made extra special by lots of different people in the community pulling together to make it happen and make it such a fun event for everyone. Monies were raised through the registration fees and collection tins. We are already planning a similar event in December with Luke.”
