We are over the moon to announce that we will be opening a new shop in Prudhoe this winter. Prudhoe is one of the major towns in the 800sq miles area we cover in Tynedale, Ponteland and West Northumberland. Over the years we have provided nursing care at home for patients in Prudhoe, provided our Hospital Transport Service to help those with a life-limiting diagnosis attend vital medical appointments, and provided pre and post bereavement support to adults, children and families in Prudhoe and surrounding areas.
Retail raises over a third of our £900k total annual running costs so is an important way for the Hospice to ensure a sustainable future and ensure we continue to offer our services free to those who need them. We are also really proud that our shops act as social hubs within the community, being a great place to volunteer, shop and browse.
Our shops not only help fund our services and support our communities – they are great sources of pre-loved and vintage goods – great for upcycling, recycling and keeping quality items out of land-fill. Great for your pocket, great for the community and great for the environment!
We are holding two drop-in sessions in The Spetchells Centre, Prudhoe:
Tuesday 22nd October, 10am – 1pm
Wednesday 23rd October, 2pm – 5pm
If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer at our new Prudhoe shop, please just pop along. Or you can give Lucy Weeks (Community Engagement Officer) a call on 01434 606 444, or email her on Lucy@tynedalehospice.com.
