Shop donations
Take a look around your home and inside your wardrobe to see what you can clear out and recycle. Your de-clutter will help us raise vital funds to support our care services.
We make every effort to turn all donations into cash, but a good rule of thumb is if you’d buy it, we could sell it.
If items are not in re-saleable condition, we can upcycle them or sell them as textiles. However occasionally there are some products that cannot be recycled or re-used and cost us to dispose of so we ask that you do not donate these items. Please check below what we can and can’t accept in our various shops – including our dedicated Bookshop and Furniture shop in Hexham.
We accept the following donations:
Good quality clothing for adults, babies and children
Shoes
Accessories
Toys
Games
Books*
Small homeware / accessories
Unopened beauty products (in date)
Unopened gift sets (in date)
Art
Prom or bridalwear
Large household items**
*In Hexham there’s a dedicated bookshop so if you have a lot of books, that is the best place for your book donation, if you can get to it. Otherwise your nearest shop will happily take the books too.
** Only donate to our ‘Furniture Shop’ please.

Sustainability & circularity
When you shop at one of our stores or donate your pre-loved items, you’re not only helping us raise funds to support the care services but helping the environment too by reducing landfill.
Charity shops like Tynedale Hospice at Home offer an easy way for us all to contribute to the circular economy and help the planet by extending the life of products. Think of how you can close the loop on items you own by donating to charity or by buying second hand and reducing landfill.
In 2023 we saved 183,000 from landfill, and gave them a second life through selling items in our shops.
Gift aid
If you’re a UK taxpayer, we can claim an extra 25p on every £1 raised through the sale of your donations (or value of your monetary donation). All you need to do is complete the form once, and then let us know your name and postcode when you next donate so we can match your donation to you and claim Gift Aid. You’ll receive an auto-generated email to keep you informed on how much your donations raised and what the gift aid value is which you may need to keep for tax purposes (if for example you complete a self-assessment).
