GET IN TOUCH

Tynedale Hospice at Home

Tynedale Hospice at Home was founded in 1993 and today provides nursing care, transport and pre and post bereavement support to children, adults and families in the communities of Tynedale, West Northumberland and Ponteland. Unlike many hospices, Tynedale Hospice at Home’s palliative nursing care is provided in the home where the patient and their families can be surrounded by familiar comforts and can be cared for in a place of their choosing.

Our hospital transport service offers a door-to-door service to and from hospital appointments and is provided entirely by volunteer drivers who use their own cars. This service is an essential lifeline to many in our community – especially as we cover an 800 square mile radius, much of which is rural.

Adults, children and families who are facing or grieving the death of a loved one can access our family support service which is available to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they have had experience of another of the Hospice services. Our trained team of staff and volunteers provide one to one, group and family support and also work in schools when required.

In the last year, Tynedale Hospice at Home has cared for 439 adults, children and families in the community.

Supported thanks to our community

All of Tynedale Hospice at Home’s services are provided free of charge to all those in our community and we rely on the generosity of the community to fund our work. It costs more than £800,000 a year to keep our services running and more than 90% of these funds must be raised through fundraising, charitable donations and legacies.

We would not be here today without the support of individuals, businesses, trusts and groups in our community. If you would like to help make a difference in your community we would invite you to get involved. There are plenty of ways that you can join us as we seek to make a positive difference to the lives of people and families who require nursing care, transport or pre and post bereavement support. You could give up your time to volunteer in one of our shops or as a driver, you could take part in a fundraising challenge or host your own fundraising event or you could encourage your school or business to support us. Or you may choose to support in other ways, perhaps through a regular donation each month, making a donation in memory of a loved one or choosing to leave a gift in your Will.

However you choose to get involved or support us, we want to thank you now for your interest and help. For more inspiration on how you can get involved please click below or call us on 01434 606 444.

Our Values and Behaviours

Our Values and Behaviours underpin everything we do as we work together to achieve our vision.   They were produced in consultation with Tynedale Hospice at Home’s staff, trustees and volunteers.

Our Values are our core beliefs, they explain who we are, how we work, what we believe in and stand for.

We are:  Caring and Compassionate, Professional, Trustworthy and Accountable and Positive and Can Do.

Our Standards of Behaviour underpin our values and are a set of standards by which our staff, trustees and volunteers work. They describe what we should expect working for Tynedale Hospice at Home and define how we act, behave and treat each other, and the communities we serve.

What others say about us…

“I was offered far more than I could ever have expected. Not only were the carers looking after my Dad, but also my Mum and me. Without them this would have been an even more difficult experience. All I can really say is you are fabulous. Everyone I have had contact with has been so helpful and caring.”

‘‘To all the staff, I would like to thank you all for the help given to me whilst recently attending three weeks of treatment at the Freeman hospital. You are all a very highly organised team which enabled my care to be stress free at all times. All the volunteer drivers were brilliant and very friendly.”
