Are you looking for opportunities to get involved with a local charity?

Have you, or someone you know, been affected by a life limiting illness and you are looking to help others in the same situation?

Tynedale Hospice at Home was founded in 1993 and today we provide three vital services to the communities of Tynedale, West Northumberland and Ponteland.

  • Nursing care in the home – palliative and end of life nursing care
  • Hospital Transport Service – discrete transport taking patients with life-limiting illnesses to vital medical and hospital appointments
  • Family Support Service – pre and post bereavement support for adults, children and young people

Unlike many hospices, Tynedale Hospice at Home’s nursing care is provided in the home where the patient and their families can be surrounded by familiar comforts and can be cared for in a place of their choosing.

We’re currently recruiting for Family Support Volunteers
to offer pre and post bereavement support to adults through active listening.

We are looking for people who have excellent listening skills and a warm, empathic personality.  Full training will be provided but you will need a caring, compassionate nature and non-judgemental attitude alongside the ability to deal with emotionally charged situations.

Alongside the initial three day training there will be ongoing training and regular support sessions with members of the Care Team.

Experienced volunteers report that while this work can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding as you really can make a difference to someone’s life.

If this sounds like you, and you have the time to dedicate to helping others in our community, we would love to hear from you.

You can find the role description below. Please download and complete the application form below.

The closing date is 14th June 2019, 5pm.

Alternatively, you can get in touch directly by contacting Lorraine Thompson, Office Manager.
