Leave a Gift in your Will
And give another family the gift of hospice care and support.
Why Your Gift Matters
Tynedale Hospice at Home receives only a small proportion of its funding from statutory sources and relies on the generosity of local people to keep hospice at home care available for generations to come.
You may never know who your gift helps. But by choosing to leave a Gift in your Will to Tynedale Hospice at Home, you can help make sure our care and support is there when local families need it.
What a Gift in your Will makes possible
Your gift will touch the lives of local people facing illness, loss, and difficult journeys.
So no one faces hospital journeys alone...
Terry had just retired and was looking forward to a peaceful, well-earned break. But soon after, life took a difficult turn. Faced with a serious health condition, he needed frequent hospital visits for treatment and consultations. The thought of arranging transport, worrying about parking, and making the journeys alone became overwhelming.
One day, on a walk through Hexham, Terry stumbled into our flagship shop. A conversation with our Retail Manager led him to our Patient Transport Co-ordinator. From that moment, things changed.
“The Patient Transport team only provide solutions for me,” Terry says. “They pick me up from home in a private car, drop me right outside my appointment, and make sure I get home safely. The friendly drivers know when to chat and when to give me space. Even on long journeys to Wansbeck, Hexham, and the Freeman Hospital, the time passes quickly. Suddenly, I wasn’t alone anymore.”
Tynedale Hospice at Home’s Patient Transport service, is supported by our army of volunteer drivers, ensures that no patient misses an appointment. They bring not just practical help, but kindness, reassurance, and companionship when it’s needed most.
These vital services are possible thanks to supporters who leave Gifts in their Wills. By choosing to leave a legacy gift, you can ensure that no one faces hospital journeys alone, and that our community always has a lifeline when life feels overwhelming.
So no one faces the end alone...
Elizabeth was a much-loved Mum and Grandma – stoic, independent, and with an unshakable love for Cliff Richard.
When her health declined, her daughter Verity reached out to Tynedale Hospice at Home. At first, Elizabeth resisted care, but as nights became harder, our nurses stepped in – providing expert overnight support, pain relief, and peace of mind for the whole family.
“Being able to sleep at night, knowing Mum had the very best of care, made that horrible time bearable.” – Verity, Daughter.
Elizabeth died peacefully at home in May 2024, surrounded by family and love.
In gratitude, Verity’s family ran the Paris Marathon to raise vital funds – helping ensure other families could have the same compassionate care.
By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help people like Elizabeth and Verity receive nursing care, bereavement support, and dignity in their final days – all completely free.
Your legacy will be their comfort, their strength, and their peace.
So no one grieves without support...
Grief is always real and deeply personal. Its intensity and duration vary for everyone, and while support from family and friends can help, sometimes professional guidance is the lifeline that makes the difference.
That’s what it meant for Robin, after the sudden death of his wife.
Having cared for her through vascular dementia and heart problems, he was overwhelmed by a complex grief—prolonged, emotional, and deeply rooted in love. In those difficult weeks, Tynedale Hospice at Home was there, providing one-to-one bereavement sessions.
Compassionate support gave him space to be heard, helping him slowly navigate his grief to find a path forward.
Stories like Robin’s are only possible because people choose to leave us a Gift in their Will.
Your legacy will ensure Tynedale Hospice at Home can continue to provide specialist end-of-life care, and vital pre and post bereavement support for children, adults and whole families.
By remembering us in your Will, you can make sure that future generations will never have to face the pain of loss without care, compassion, and understanding by their side.

Frequently asked questions about leaving a Gift in your Will
A Will is not something many of us spend much time thinking about so can seem confusing. Here’s some common questions about Gifts in Will.
Is your gift exempt from inheritance tax?
Most gifts to a registered charity are usually exempt from inheritance tax. The rules of inheritance tax and exemptions can be confusing so it is always best to discuss in more detail with a solicitor. Inheritance tax is set out by the government and may be payable on death depending on the value of your estate.
What are the different types of gifts in Will?
– Residuary gifts
A percentage of your estate. Residue is whatever is left after all debts, expenses, tax and other costs have been deducted.
– Pecuniary gifts
A specific amount of money. The value of a pecuniary gift will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.
– Specific gift
for example jewellery, land or furniture.
