There is a range of ways that you can volunteer for the Hospice. Whether you have a few hours or you’re time-rich, we would welcome any support you can offer. Volunteering can be a great way to learn new skills, share your knowledge and meet new people.

Have you got a flair for customer service or the creativity to put together amazing window displays? Then working in one of our retail outlets could be perfect for you. Our three shops – two in Hexham and one in Ponteland – are thriving hubs of the local community.
Hospital Transport Services
Could you be a reassuring face in times of need?
Our volunteer drivers are a lifeline for people who need to get to vital hospital appointments. If you enjoy driving around the beautiful Northumberland countryside, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You need to own your own car and have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. All mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
Family Support Services
If you have a listening ear then volunteering in our Family Support Service provides a chance to put these skills to good use.
Our Family Support Volunteers provide vital support to people experiencing bereavement. Training is provided.
We are currently recruiting new Family Support Volunteers – please check out the Jobs page for more details!
If you’ve got good computers skills and a confident telephone manner then supporting us in our office could be an ideal choice.
We’ve a host of roles you can get involved with, from assisting with accounts and working on our reception, to liaising with our Hospital Transport Team.
Our fundraising volunteers get involved in all sorts of activities – from bag packs and charity collections to manning our fundraising stalls at local events.
Don’t Have Much Time?
You can still get involved.
We have opportunities for people who want to give their time on an occasional basis – from charity collections and bag packs to hosting one-off events like a bake sale or coffee morning – there is something for everyone.
