It was a perfect start to the New Year as the sun shone brightly at annual Ponteland Wheelbarrow Race on New Year’s Day.  A record number of participants took part in this fantastic event which saw participants in wheelbarrows navigate the mile-long course. It was an absolutely brilliant day with hundreds of people coming out in force to take part. Thanks to the incredible support of the local community, £2,818.78 was raised which was split equally between Tynedale Hospice at Home and St Oswald’s Hospice.

A huge thanks to the event organisers – the Ponteland 41 Club, Ponteland Rugby Club and the Blackbird Inn – for doing such a brilliant and to everyone who took part, supported, cheered, donated and volunteered on the day.  It was a fantastic community effort and every penny raised will make a real difference to the people we support through our hospice nursing care in the home, family support and hospital transport services.
