New Trustees bring experience and skill to the Hospice

We’re delighted to welcome six new trustees to our board bringing to the organisation valuable experience from health, retail, business and education.

The new trustees are Gillian Charlton from Fourstones; Lee Coleman from Wooley, Louisa Deas from Corbridge. Elizabeth Harris from Acomb, John Harrison from Darras Hall and Janet Shucksmith from Stocksfield.

Anne Francis, chair of the board, said: “This is a particularly exciting time to be joining the board. As you are aware, we’ve seen some significant achievements over the last year, including a positive CQC rating, and the office move. We also have a new five-year strategy that will seek to develop our services. With the new board member’s combination of skills and experience, coupled with the skills we already have amongst existing trustees I am confident that we will be able to drive this strategy forward, building on the significant progress we have made in recent years.

“We also said a fond farewell to two outgoing trustees, Diana Linnett and Peter Rodger, who have been supporting our work for many years. We’re extremely grateful for all their advice and wise counsel. Their contribution has been invaluable.”
